Surabaya, May 5

I left San Luis Obispo Friday, May 2. The trip took a total of 34 hours, of which 24 hours were spent in planes. I flew from SLO to SF, then to Tokyo, then Singapore, and finally Surabaya, located in northeastern, Java. Surabaya is a large, commercial city with a population of millions. I checked into the hotel at 9 AM on Sunday morning and spent the day writing a test and my lecture for the following day.

This picture shows downtown Surabaya.

Monday morning, I went downstairs and checked out the room to make sure my laptop would work. This is a picture of the room. About 20 people attended the morning talk.

I took a nap afterward and gave the afternooon talk at 2 PM. About 50 people came to this, most of them small business people. Dan FitzGerald, whose company organized this conference for US Dairy Export Council, and I left for Jakarta that evening.

We checked into the Four Seasons Hotel, which is very nice--marble, very spacious.
